Creative Loop is a Skillset Media Academy and part of the Skillset Media Academy Network a national footprint of colleges and universities that work with directly with industry. The network is made up of 20 Academies, drawing together creative education partnerships from 47 colleges and universities across the UK. Creative Loop is one of only three Skillset Media Academies in Scotland and the only UK academy that is wholly comprised of FE colleges.


Continuing Professional Development
The Creative Loop hubs not only reflect the industry experience of their staff, but directly affect curriculum development. Staff training is fundamental to the Creative Loop's activities, with opportunities for media staff to learn new techniques on the latest equipment - underpinning the relevance of their teaching. Being a true partnership, each site offers a variety of courses in a number of media forms, pooling resources where appropriate to exploit synergies.

Creative Loop is developing the idea of substitution, where college staff gaining professional development within industry are replaced in colleges by industry personnel to provide master-classes. This adds real value to courses across the television, radio, animation, visual communication and interactive media sectors.


Establishing Regional Hubs
Creative Loop regional hubs focus on industry partnerships and the provision of flexible training. Where in the past this has involved significant travel for many learners, this devolved structure gives students across Scotland access to industry-strength learning and teaching. Significant capital investment from the Scottish Funding Council has made each hub an important regional resource for media professionals, learners and teachers alike. This provision supplements existing HNC/PD courses delivered across Scotland. The six colleges work in partnership to develop and deliver materials for the creative industries based on their individual areas of expertise:
