GREEN2014 is a celebration and showcase of the range of environmental sustainability legacy projects linked to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games ranging from beekeeping to regeneration projects in and around Glasgow. In this interview Lori explains what she has been striving to achieve with Architecture and Design Scotland.
“There’s no mothballing of venues and there’s no excessive expenditure involved.” – Lori McElroy, Architecture and Design Scotland.
Inherently improving peoples’ lives through design, the project has a heavy hand on the reuse, deployment and interconnectivity of buildings, spaces and indeed communities in Glasgow. 70% of the venues used for the games already existed and are considered ‘on-loan’ by the people of Glasgow, and therefore are familiar, accessible and will be cherished for years to come.
